For the past three quarters of a century, the Miss America Organization has generated scholarship money that has helped young women to pursue degrees in the nation’s leading colleges and universities. Last year alone, the Organization made available more than $40 million in cash and in-kind scholarships to bright, promising young women across the nation. Right now, these women may be the girl next door, but in the future they will be doctors, lawyers and corporate CEOs!
Our local titleholder in 2006, Taryn Foshee, went on to become Miss Mississippi and Third Runner Up to Miss America 2007. She is now in her last semester of college at Mississippi State University and plans to attend law school with the scholarship money she received during her years of competition. Over the past 10 years our contestants have earned over $100,000 in scholarship money at the local state and national levels of competition.
